The hardest part was getting the dashboard off, but the panel is one entire piece, so it is cumbersome. But it works like a charm. You can install the Ipod cable in the glove box or the center console (comes with ample cable), plug in your Ipod, close the door and control the music functions on the radio. Even see the name of the track playing. Much cooler than a simple 1/8" audio input. In fact, the GMPD2 includes an aux input that you can access on the radio source as well. So you can plug in your Nav system, or pda, or whatever. Very pleased! Buying a new radio was not an option. I was nervous about the complicated electronics. This Soundgate device couldnt be any easier. Plugs into the XM module. They set up the #6 preset to toggle bettween XM and IPOD.
