I purchased one of these, and it arrived broken where the lamp meets the iPod player. The plastic had snapped, in spite of the fact that it was packed nicely.

I was sent a new one, and it too arrived broken in the exact same spot.

Again, it's a great idea, if someone can come up with a more solid way of combining the two components.

The iHome Desk Lamp is composed mostly of cheap plastic. The lamp was nice for the two times I was able to use it before the base piece snapped. It is impossible to fix and the it's not possible to reconnect the lamp back to the base.

The speakers are very low quality although they advertise the opposite. If you use it like I do (just for low listening while doing homework or browsing, their fine).

I figure that most of these overpriced iHomes go for $100+, so I ended up tearing off the base of the lamp (if you do it right it only creates a 1cm hole), cutting the wires and using it as a regular ipod dock. It still functions fine and when you dock an iPod into it you can't see the hole created from removing the lamp.

If you are looking to buy this thing, DON'T. If you already have this piece of junk, when your lamp breaks (it will), take a look at my advice.

I got this lamp for christmas and when I got it out of the box it was great!! The Light was a great Light for reading and the speakers were also good, but it didn't last, 2 weeks after I got it I tried moving the lamp a little farther upwards, and I heard a snap, and the post holding the lamp came crashing down. Also, nothing in the warranty will cover it breaking like this. It all has to do with the hinge that the pole moves on, which I think is made of cheap plastic.

I had bought this to put in the guest bedroom. I thought it was great because it was a night lamp for reading and/or an ipod dock if you just wanted to listen to music. I barely pulled the lamp downward and the plastic piece that lets the lamp move broke off.

Same as the previous reviewer, first one was broken out of the box and
the second broken the next day. Do not buy!
