4 out of 5 stars Rollicking blues   November 13, 2008
doctormanny (Pittsburgh, PA)
This CD was a total impulse buy for me--I had never even heard of Jeff Healey before. But I saw it in a separate display case in the store, it looked interesting, and I hadn't listened to any blues in a while, so I thought I'd give it a try. I am very glad I did. There's a lot of good ol' rollicking electric blues on this disc, including interesting interpretations of "Like a Hurricane" and "Shake Rattle and Roll," which I thoroughly enjoyed. Not every song is a winner, hence the 4 stars, but this is a solid electric blues disc, highly recommended. I've already ordered another Jeff Healey CD online.

5 out of 5 stars A new favorite   November 8, 2008
Jeff Mason (albuquerqu, nm)
This is the only Jeff Healey CD I have listened to so far. I had heard his name and a song here and there over the years but hadn't realized what I was missing. Based on this CD I think Jeff Healey was very special ... figures he would die young ... many of my favorites did. His sound is unique and I cant wait to get more of his stuff.

5 out of 5 stars The only thing wrong with this CD is that it's the last one   October 27, 2008
A. D. Boorman
There will be no more Jeff Healey CDs.

Damn.

I somehow saw Jeff Healey as lasting forever, like Pinetop or BB or Buddy Guy. Just like them, he sung his blues from someplace deep inside. At the same time, he was a protean creature, equally capable of going jazz, country, or even rocking out when need be.

This album features a wonderful cover of "How Blue Can You Get." It's almost 9 minutes long, and it showcases Healey's talent as a bluesman. His cover of "The Weight" stands alongside any ever done, and his version of "Like a Hurricane," while not exactly blues, shows his talent and his versatility as a performer.

This is his best CD in years. Unfortunately, it will also be his last. The real shame is that too many people only know Jeff Healey as a cameo on "Roadhouse." We need to appreciate artists like Jeff Healey during their lifetime, instead of after they're gone.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent!!   October 6, 2008

Excellent Cd for Jeff Healey fans and anyone who loves the blues... I have played this over and over and will continue to enjoy it for a long time.

5 out of 5 stars God bless you, Jeff!   October 1, 2008
Almir Roveran (Sao Paulo, Brazil)
JH said goodbye to us with one more masterpiece. How many longings you left, dear friend. God blessed you with the talent of the music and, certainly, he is hearing you playing to His side.
Thanks for How Blue Can You Get, the definitive version.
