4 out of 5 stars Good product , but noise in metro FM areas like LA   December 15, 2008
S. R. Nuthalapati (Los Angeles, CA)

It is a good product and worked as per the specifications. However the idea of using Bluetooth over an FM spectrum may not go well in metro areas like Los angeles, Sanfrancisco or Newyork. This is because there are toomany FM channels out there on a limited FM spectrum.

So When I purchased this product, it was quite easy to hook up the device with my Motorola Razor phone, the set up is a breeze..I first tried calling by pulling my car off the road in a parking area, and it worked perfectly fine. When I am on the move, the call quality is good for 4-5 minutes, and then when I entered into a nearby city the I got interference on the call, and I was forced to hung up.

Especially, if you are living in one of these metro areas, probably you should get a built-in bluetooth with car audio system..rather using FM as the connection medium.

I have returned the product..as I don't want to have my calls dropped , neither should I be worried of this interference while driving...thats a lot of distraction.

5 out of 5 stars Great little Bluetooth alternative   November 4, 2008
Houshmand Moarefi (Denver, CO)
This is a great alternative to a factory Bluetooth option or an aftermarket hard wired solution. The sounds quality is great. The ability to easily change stations and it's compact size makes it a perfect solution for a business traveller or someone who needs to use it in multiple cars. It's extremely easy to use and the set up is so simple that it's up and running within seconds. Great product.

1 out of 5 stars Dissapointment   September 21, 2008
Lou Cortes (Orlando, FL)
This product sounds aweful on the receiving end. In the car it sounds great through the car speakers but to the caller, it sounds like your in a steel garbage can. I returned the original one ordered because I thought there was a problem with it. The second one I received is just as bad. I stopped using it soon after I received it. I don't know if I can send it back for a full refund. Not worth the money, sorry Satechi.

4 out of 5 stars The best one I tried   September 19, 2008

I tried several similar products and this one was the best. I have a 2004 Altima with the factory radio. I wanted a product that I could use with my AT&T Tilt (for handsfree calling and wireless audio) and my Sirius S50. Here are my thoughts:
- With the aux input on the Satechi I was able to hardwire the S50 to the Satechi unit. The Sirius will play through the Satechi FM modulator and will mute when a call comes in or any other audio is transmitted from the phone. This is really good because I use Garmin Mobile XT on my phone and the music will mute when the Garmin announces directions
-Call quality and volume seems good from my end but the other parties hear an echo
-A2DP works great as does the phone's voice command. Music sounds good and it transmits at a reasonable volume
-It's helpful to be able to choose from every frequency. The FM Transmitter is really not the strongest on this thing so you do need a clear station
-The only reason this didn't get 5 stars from me was that hardwiring the S50 to the Satech created a ground loop which resulted in terrible alternator whine and a little clipping. This isn't an issue if you will not be using the aux input on the Satechi with another device that plugs in to a cigarette lighter. I purchased a ground loop isolator from an electronics store along with an adapter cable and it cleared it right up, but that stuff cost another $24 so I deducted a star.

5 out of 5 stars Works perfect, once you get the right phone   September 16, 2008

I got one of these FM transmitters only to find out my phone didn't have A2DP, so no music. No problem, I needed a new phone anyway. So then I made the mistake of getting an LG Shine. One of the other reviewers complained about "FM" audio quality, and I can tell you why. The "Shine" connects as a MONO headset first, which sounds terrible, and won't connect as A2DP until you disconnect and reconnect the bluetooth. I got tired of doing that every time I got in the car.So I returned the problematic LG and got Sony W580i.Works great every time.Sounds great too.My suggestion is contact Satechi sales and make sure you have a phone that works well with this device before you buy. Satechi: you might consider making a list of phones that work well, and ones that don't. For my experience, LG = bad, Sony = good.
