4 out of 5 stars Great, simple headphones   December 6, 2008
Peter Gaskill (Bronx, NY United States)
These headphones are great. I love listening to my iPod, mostly for podcasts but also music sometimes. I mention this because I am not particularly worried about the quality of the bass or sound as long as it is clear and easy to listen to. And these headphones certainly have good enough sound to hear very well.

I purchased them when I was looking to buy some headphones that were simple, comfortable and worked well. The headphones that came with my iPod had worn out and I needed another set for daily use with my iPod nano. My work has a lot of ambient noise, so they needed to be loud enough to hear my podcasts and music over the noise, but not so loud as to bother my ear. And I wanted a volume control on the cord so I did not have to take the iPod out of my pocket to adjust the volume.

These headphones fulfill all my requirements easily, are good enough to use on planes, come with a little carrying case and have a tougher cable than the iPod headphones so it seems like they will not wear out (after 4 months they seem fine). Also the cord is long enough to keep my iPod comfortably in my pocket and not have it pull on my ears. The foam covers for the earbuds are a little tough to get on, but once you do they are no problem. This is my second set of sennheiser headphones (my first is a set of waterproof headphones that lock in your ears for working out) and I am thoroughly impressed with both sets and I highly recommend them.

5 out of 5 stars Balanced and neutral-color sound   November 3, 2008
Chang Gull Song (NJ USA)
I tried sony EX-85LP. When it comes to talking about ear buds fit in ear, it becomes all personal matter. However, I disliked the sony's in ear headphone first for the fit and second for the sound. The bass was just boomy and not precise. And they hurt my ears after using 10min.

I liked the senheiser PX-100 until I needed one that won't annoy people around me at a louder volume.

This one wasn't supposed to be an upgrade to PX-100 at least for the price range it belongs to. However, this one turns out to be a winner of all.

I listen to pop, rock, jazz, and classic almost equally. This MX-660 shows the detail without adding any additional (and often annoying) color on the music. I don't agree with the other reviewers about the bass; it has the exact right amount of bass unless you're looking for a boomy sound that distorts the complexity of the music. If you need, just turn some eq bass on.

This compares equally to sony MDR-464 I enjoyed 15 years ago, a quality of which is hardly found in this market now a days, when everything is developed for a cheaper taste with glittering outfit.

Don't hesitate to try this one. At least, as the other reviewer fairly describes, this will be a good upgrade for your iPod ear buds.

4 out of 5 stars Great for replacing iPod earbuds   October 20, 2008
Quai (Chicago)
I bought these earbuds to replace the ones I got with my iPod and so far, I love them! They fit my ears well and the volume control is extremely convenient for those times when I have my iPod locked. I picked these over the earbuds that you stick directly into your ear canal, since honestly, those kind of freak me out despite possibly having superior audio quality. Yes, the bass is slightly muddy, but I think some of the reviewers are a little too picky - these are earbuds (that are under $30!) afterall... not headphones.

2 out of 5 stars MX 660: precise sound but no bass   October 14, 2008
S. Salim (Los Angeles, California USA)

I wanted to get Sennheiser earbuds, and MX660 (with MX760) have the best specs of the current classic line. However, I find the sound of MX660 to be tiring. I would call the sound precise because of very clear highs, but the mid-range sounds too prominent and the bass is very difficult to get without pressing earbuds hard. Altogether they do not make for nice listening experience. If you like a solid bass (but not boomy) such as that delivered by PX100 portable headphones, I recommend Sennheiser MX55 instead of MX660. In either case, the use of foams is necessary to get the most of the bass.

5 out of 5 stars Earbuds   August 31, 2008

The Sennheiser earbuds were a replacement item and represented an updated version of the previously owned earbuds. They are all that they have been billed. Strong sound replication and attractive.
