4 out of 5 stars Kicker Zune Kicks It   January 6, 2009

I looked at a few systems before grabbing this one. I wanted a simple, small system that had good sound to play our Zunes (we have 3 in the house). Most I saw were not very good or clumsy. This one is fantastic. Great sound, easy to use and, as my son has made it a point to show me, LOUD! The only knock on it is, you have to unplug it each time you reseat a Zune. I don't understand why. It's a minor inconvenience, but if you don't do it, it won't work. Threw me for a look the first time it happened. Otherwise it's been very simple and easy to use.

Kicker ZK500 Zune Speaker Dock (Black)
i think this is the best thing on the market for my 120 gb zune goes very loud and has alot of bass so i suggest on getting one

4 out of 5 stars AWESOME sound. Love it for music. Wish it could dock sideways, too, for videos.   January 1, 2009
Kim (Lombard, IL United States)
The sound can't be beat. It's crisp, clear, and can go as loud as you can stand it. If you hit "menu" on the remote, it operates the Zune. If you press and hold "menu," it operates the bass, treble, and aux. in on the Kicker. Nice.

Only complaints are:
1) that the remote should be more substantial. I worry that this thing won't stand up to the test of time.
2) I put lots of video on my Zune (transferred from Tivo, etc.), so it really would be nice to dock this thing sideways, too, for watching TV shows/movies. As it stands, I'd have to use the aux. input cable to attach the Zune in order to have the Zune sideways while listening to it through the Kicker.
3) Can't use it for radio. Wish it had some type of antenna built into it so you could use the radio.

But the awesome sound still makes this the best thing on the market by far.

5 out of 5 stars seriously astounded by this thing   December 29, 2008

I had my eyes on this since it first came out...originally at around $350, now that it's down to $200, finally got it, and I really am blown away. All christmas we listened to bill evans trio (jazz trio - piano, bass, drums), and I thought it sounded spectacular and it filled the entire house.

Everything works very well and easily right out of the box. At the moment it's replacing my Onkyo sound system at home where I used to hook my zune up to, and I think it sounds perfectly fine...probably using 1/4 or less of the power it took for my huge system too, so the tradeoff is wonderful.

Anyway...it sounds amazing for what it is. It definitely is not end all, but for people that aren't sound engineers and cry about everything, then I'd say it's a 100% buy. With it being transportable, even better.

On an extra note...I personally play bass guitar, and the bass is extraordinarily loud and clear for no sub or anything. I really like it and it makes it very easy to pick out bass lines when turning the bass levels up a bit more. Bass at the highest level is....we'll say overexaggerated, but coming from a car audio company who probably market to those people that blow their ear drums out in their cars...it seems about right.
