2 out of 5 stars Hopefully they'll phase these out now that they have new ones   December 5, 2008
S. Reed (DC)
I hate these ear buds. No matter what size fitting I put on them they ALWAYS fell out. Don't even think about exercising in these things. I liked the sound quality on these, so I got a different pair or ear buds to exercise in and tried using these exclusively during my morning commute on the DC Metro. I found that even if I was able to achieve a zen-like state of stillness while sitting these ear buds still fit so poorly that they would slide out far enough to make music and podcasts sound like you're listening through a tin can with a string tied to it.

Not even ear muffs could hold these ear buds snugly in place for me since they stick out of your ears at a 45 degree angle. Thank goodness Apple has released a new model. If you have a choice between the new model and the old, feel free to bear these words in mind: in my experience, ANY ear buds would be more practical than these. Save yourself the frustration.

5 out of 5 stars 1-3 Star Ratings Are From Users That DID NOT USE The Product CORRECTLY!   December 1, 2008

Anyone who gives these headphones under a 4 star rating is NOT using them correctly. I'm fairly experienced in the technical side of audio equipment, and these headphones are excellent for the money. The frequency response is amazing, and under the right conditions, rivals a stereo system. I have extensive experience using these headphones, after four years of extremely pleased use.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
First, please note that using these headphones with an iPod or any other MP3 player is NOT using them to their full potential. iPods and other players do not send a wide range of frequencies (making the bass sound bad or compressed). To get the full potential of these headphones, buy a Creative Labs Xmod USB Sound Card for PC & Mac, and use it in conjunction with iTunes' equalizer set correctly. Then, when putting these earphones in, you must push them in far enough so they make a seal in your ear canal. You may have to change the rubber part (the ones included in the case are small and large sizes) to create the best seal. You will know when they are pushed in far enough because you will not be able to hear outside noises as well (essentially the same effect as putting your finger in your ear). Finally, make sure the room is quiet (so you get the full effect) and play your favorite song. There is no way you can give this product less than 4-stars after using them correctly, their bass response is stronger than ANY other affordable headphones on the market. However, be aware, that these headphones are directly in your ear canal, prolonged exposure to exceptionally loud music this far in your ear WILL CAUSE permanent hearing damage.

5 out of 5 stars Great Buy!   October 27, 2008

Well, it seems that these either work for you or they don't.

I personally love mine. They work well to cancel out noise, are super comfortable, and won't fall out when I'm bouncing around in the gym. For small little earbuds, they pack quite the punch! I noticed my ipod battery lasted longer because I can keep the volume level low. I also like them because other people aren't bothered by them (have you ever noticed that you can hear what other people are listening to with some headphone products? I find that annoying). The price is pretty steep - but the product is of good quality. I've had mine for at least two years now and they still look brand new. I bought them because the headphones that come with the ipod give me a horrible ear ache.

However if you're looking for top-of-the-line headphone quality where the highest high and the lowest low of pitches carry through, you should perhaps look elsewhere. These just aren't of Boise music quality (yet again I don't think many people would use their Boise noise-cancelling headphones at the gym... so if you're looking for something a bit more casual, this is your product).

5 out of 5 stars Great Product!...   October 20, 2008

These are great!...got them for my girlfriend for when she works out, and she says they work great...the "kit" has three different sized earbuds, so it will fit any ear, and all of it is very durable...

3 out of 5 stars Bad design   August 22, 2008

Sounds good, but bad design. I ear holes happen to not fit any of those buds. =/
