Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
As a work of craftsmanship, the CS-415 CD receiver system is a sight to behold. It sports a robust build, accentuated by a striking aluminum front panel and attractive, black piano-finish speakers. Inside you'll find audio engineering competence that will reveal the nuance and dynamics of all your music sources. How is this achieved? Through an amplifier design based on Onkyo's noise-reducing, full-frequency-promoting Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT). Whether it's CDs or MP3 tracks recorded to disc, the CS-415 is capable of faultless music reproduction. Another way to put extra life in your digital music is to use your iPod like a separate component, by connecting it to the CS-415 through Onkyo's iPod Dock. Capping off the system, the accompanying speakers ? showcasing Onkyo's latest developments ? set a new quality benchmark in style and sound.

I tried the Harman Karden tube speakers and the Bose series two, I even tried Klipsch speakers and these were just the best sounding and most adjustable speakers that I tried.

Onkyo CS-415 CD Receiver System
This unit produces great sound. I kept my old speakers (boston acoustics) and added a subwoffer!

excellent, but very little adjustment available via the equalizer or trebel bass settings. They just dont offer enough range. But, for the money, a slick looking and tight sounding unit. and the Ipod dock kills when hooked to your tv as well.

My goal was to put a very small footprint system on top of an electric piano in a medium-size room. The speakers would have to be hidden below, in the empty space at the bottom of the piano. The system was supposed to be used mainly as a CD player during vocal lessons, with a possible addition of a turntable. When I checked various mini-systems, I realized that they, generally, produce a low quality sound, inacceptable for classical music. This Onkyo system is the only exception, boasting 50 - 20k Hz response. The sound is superb! I played Stravinsky's Rites of Spring, and it really rocked! The only thing that is missing is the bass range 20 - 50 Hz, and it will require a subwoofer that is big, ugly, and more expensive than the system itself (most subwoofers don't even have 20 Hz).

5 out of 5 stars STRAIGHT FOWARD, NICE SOUNDING, WRAT TECHNOLOGY.....AND HALF THE PRICE OF THAT BOSE WAVE RADIO...........   December 1, 2007

I was going to get a boombox but said to myself "do I really need another one of those". So I forgot about the boombox with it's limited sound quality. So I looked into micro stereo systems. There are more expensive and better micro systems. I tried the Bose Wave Radio and I do like this Onkyo CS-415 micro stereo system much more at half the price of the insanely priced Bose Wave Radio. Note: I do have a small room (8ft.W*10ft.L) so I know that would add to the great sound this Onkyo CS-415 system has. The Onkyo CS-415 plays all your cds and Mp3 cds, you could even connect your ipod or headphones. There is even an output for a subwoofer. I will tell you when a subwoofer is connected to this micro system, the sound is really deep with even more depth, and would add more depth and loudness in a much larger room than mine. The Super Bass button helps the sound have some more depth. Onkyo has a two year warranty on parts and labor right out of the box after you register your micro system on line or by mail, really cool. The one thing I will give Onkyo, this product at this low price range is built really well. The chrome face is a nice addition to this micro stereo with all the plastic on stereo systems today. The small heat sinks in the back enclosed by a cage show some real good craftsmanship that you find on much higher end micro systems. The Id tagging on the Mp3 cd works great no glitches at all. You can adjust Treble and Bass through the direct mode. Am--Fm radio is included Yeah, I know, there is no XM radio, but I don't want to pay for radio anyway. I like the piano finish on the speakers, and really like the sound better on the cs-415 speakers than I did for the more costlier Onkyo Micro stereo systems as well as some other systems. For the 20 watts they have, the 415 speakers have some weight to them, that means a heavier magnet and better build, translates to louder sound. Yeah I know there is no DVD playback but that's fine with me. Any DVD with 5.1 channel or MVI I will just play on my theatre system anyway. The Onkyo CS-415 might be to simple for some audiophiles out there, but I like the way Onkyo made this micro system straight forward without all the needless bells and whistles that would have jacked up the price much higher. This Onkyo CS-415 is priced right and sounds great. If this onkyo system isn't right for you, go and get the insanley high priced Bose Wave Radio with its inner air tube chambers, it's your hard earned money. Hey, if you have the money, go out and get the top of the line micro stereo system, I know it will blow this CS-415 away, but if you have a budget (I hate that word!) the Onkyo CS-415 is a well built straight forward system, that sounds great with high end build. I do give just about everything I rate five stars, but this micro stereo system is no exception, 5 stars for it's build and sound. PS: don't forget to use a subwoofer.............................
