weird high-pitch noise January 5, 2009

As long as the unit is turned on, there is this weird high-pitch noise. Very annoying unless you turn the volume to 0 or very high. DON'T BUY THIS!!!

I received this off my Amazon wishlist for Christmas. When I set it up at home, it appeared to work fine - though the buttons seemed a little cheap and the interchangeable docks fit into the receptacle a little funny. I packed it back into its original packing and brought it into work to keep on my desk, and suddenly the thing was bricked. It won't even turn on anymore, even though the ac adapter is getting power from the outlet and is plugged into the unit. I am returning it and plan on looking for another solution.

Buying an IPod Nano for this? READ THIS December 22, 2008

Doesn't charge the 4th generation Nano. Had to return the alarm clock. It will play and everything works great, I really liked this alarm clock, but unfortunately had to return it because it won't charge. Given the nano lasts 24 hours and could potentially die during the night I simply couldn't deal with the overhead and possible lack of an alarm the next morning.

HMDX knows about this issue and they provide myriad apologies and excuses but ultimately they didn't do their research on 4th generation Nano. A subtle clue that I remember in retrospect is that the alarm clock did not come with an IPod fitting that matched the new Nano design, rather it has a square fitting (not oval like the new Nano). I see at this time 230 people have bought this combination on Amazon. I feel sorry for the HMDX support folks.
