Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Your search for an Apple iPod touch 2nd Gen case, skin, or cover is now over. ZAGG's invisibleSHIELD is an exceptionally clear and virtually indestructible film that will protect your iPod touch 2G from unsightly scratches. The exclusive, patented film - with nano-memory technology - covers and shields your device, keeping it as pristine as the day you took it out of the box. The precision pre-cut invisibleSHIELD applies directly to your iPod touch 2G, providing the toughest, most durable protection you will find. The invisibleSHIELD has its origins in the military, where it was used to protect high-speed helicopter blades from dust, dirt and debris. Now you can use that same powerful technology to protect your iPod touch 2G. The invisibleSHIELD is only .2 millimeters (0.0787 inches) thick, making it the slimmest iPod touch 2G skin or cover of its kind. It is so tough that it is backed with a lifetime guarantee. So, if it ever does wear or scratch, Zagg will replace it for free, for the life of your device. And if you ever need to remove the invisibleSHIELD, no problem; it comes off clean and leaves no sticky residue.

3 out of 5 stars "Invisible" it is not   December 19, 2008

I bought this product to install on my Touch 2g. I was patient in my installation but became very frustrated at how difficult it is to align everything square. Now, it is on. There are no air bubbles but invisible, it is not. The screen has a constant, dull glare. And whereas I used to be able to lightly touch the screen to activate icons, I now have to press harder. The instructions also tell you to press the edges to allow them to mold to the device. Well, all the "molding" in the world won't make mine stay put. The edges keep loosening.

Would I recommend this? Yes/maybe.
Would I buy another? No.
Next time, I'll get a case instead.

1 out of 5 stars Use extreme caution   December 9, 2008

I installed this on my Ipod Touch 2g. The instructions involve spraying a liquid on the front and back of the sheet before applying. The instructions advise removing the battery, which of course you cannot do in an Ipod. The problem is that the liquid can very easily flow under the cover glass and into the ipod. The end result for me was a permanently damaged screen underneath the glass. Be aware also that the invisible shield is anything but invisible. All in all this was a very expensive mistake. And of course it voided my Apple warranty. Beware. This may work for some people. Not for me.

2 out of 5 stars Durable but that's about it   November 29, 2008

I purchased an Invisible Shield for the face of my Ipod Touch 2G. It was not difficult to apply and I did end up with the finished product they advertised. However, it isn't invisible by any means, I installed it perfectly and there were very tiny little ripples/dimples that made it less than invisible. I contacted them and was told that this was normal for the product. In addition to the ripples the shield picks up tons of finger prints and smudges because it has a somewhat soft/tacky feel to it. The Crystal Film cover from Power Support I replaced it with is every bit as durable, plus it's shiny smooth like glass while resisting smudges.

5 out of 5 stars Seriously, this is the best iTouch investment I have made   November 24, 2008

I was hesitant to invest yet another [...] on my iTouch, but the thought of scratching it all up was simply a non-starter, so I took a gamble. This think ROCKS! It's basically two sheets of heavy duty plastic (I want to say mylar, but I am not sure) and you get a high quality squeegee, which of course you only use once--that seems a waste, and a little plastic jar of some liquid that looks strangely like saline solution (But I wasn't brave enough to take a sip). And then some instructions, of course. It does seem a lot to pay for 2 pieces of plastic, but wait until you drop your iTouch. I am fanatically happy I got this when I did.

You clean your iPhone or iPod (I ended up getting one for each), peel the plastic sheet and wet it with the mystery water, and carefully apply tit to your phone/pod. It is almost exactly like tinting your own windows. Placement is a bit of a pain, but you can keep trying. It took me three times to place the front, and about seventeen to place the back panel. I see that some people think the cover makes it look cheap, but I would personally rather have a 2% discoloration (mostly psychological anyway) than a SCRATCHED iPhone or iTouch. The small circular plastic dot at the bottom (see product image) can also be applied, but in retrospect I wish I had not.

The plastic is nearly invisible, it is super tough, and it acts like a mini-cushion against shock when you accidentally drop your iToy, but I still recommend a sleeve or jacket. When you run your finger along the front screen, it is not as smooth as the glass, but it's something you get used to, and it is definitely better than a scratch you can't repair. I can't recommend this thing enough. It really is worth protecting your [...] investment.

Thanks for reading

3 out of 5 stars Sit down to do this.   November 19, 2008

I loved the idea of the invisible shield case when I saw it. I thought it was a little too much for my liking, but hey amazon had a good price with free shipping and you get for life warranty on it. So it would be a good deal to try it.
I've had it installed for 5 days now and here's the PROS and CONS.

PROS: Gives your IPod 2g a safe shield that compliments the device's ooks like the black and metallic details. You probably loved the way your IPOD 2 looked when you unboxed it. So shiny and impeccable, you would love to show it off just like that, but there's no WAY you were going to carry it around without any casing. So this case helps that you can show off a little bit.

Scratch proof. Works, but don't try it at home.

CONS: Doesn't cover %100 of the surface area of the IPOD 2g. There are some parts that are left uncovered. Bummer, but that was ok. It was just a little tiny space along the side.

Hard to install it perfectly. After I had it installed, I saw a couple of bumps on the screen, mostly when I was reading e-mail when the screen was white. When I was gaming I didn't notice any of the bumps.

Recommendations: Please sit down to install this. Seriously. You cannot do this in a hurry and I learned it the hard way. It's gonna take you a good 20 minutes to do it properly. From unboxing to squeeging out the liquid from under the Shield. It's good if you sit down and have a table free of lint to do this on. Be patient and it will be worth more of your money when you finish installing. It might not be perfect but the more time you take to do it calmly and the more you get the area around your IPod clean the better off you'll be. Be careful no to let dust and hair get it in. It will look horrible.

So overall good buy, should be cheaper though imo.
