2 out of 5 stars WORKS GREAT ! (Sometimes ...)   December 29, 2008
J. E. Journey
Being a new Vixia HF-100 owner this cable really is nice (almost necessary) to have. Seems most of this has already been said, but here we go. With the one I received ... If you hold the connector firmly and move the cable just right it works fine. I have a hard time with cable prices approaching the $60 to $100 range, so I thought this would be worth a chance. Looking back I should have just shelled out a few more bucks for a 'better' cable. The real problem is ... How do you know?? Going on price alone there are many better cables (and some worse) available. I am not a complete novice when it comes to basic cable construction and, based primarily on appearance, this one seemed to have well constructed connector ends as compared to cheaper molded plugs. However one thing missing here is any sort of strain relief to better support the junction between the cable and physical connection with the outer shell of the connector body. Looking a little further into some other cables provided by this distributor shows that some are quite well reviewed while others are `not so much'. I suppose this may come down to quality control to include testing. Though, like a number of other less expensive mass produced items, only a small percentage of product may be tested which could put quite a few in consumers' hands before any issues show up on the manufacturer's end. And for that matter the `known' cable manufacturers also have quality control issues (maybe they just test smaller batch lots). The bottom line is you really do get what you pay for. For those who this item worked out for you got a great deal and that's alright. For those, like me, whose experience was not so great there are options. Though in searching for those options it becomes apparent that this type of cable is of limited availability from local electronics suppliers, leaving only the unnamed "Big Box" stores with their ludicrous pricing and on-line sellers to simply take a chance on. I rated this with two stars because it did work well when it worked but, even at this price point, that is just unacceptable.

1 out of 5 stars Intermittent   December 22, 2008
D. Schatz (Fort Collins, CO USA)
Really too bad - looks like quality construction externally and materials look fine - the problem is that there is an intermittent connection so it can't be used. I'm sending this one back and hoping for a good exchange. From what I've read here there is a probability that the next one won't work either, but if it does it should continue working. I think Amazon should check into them - hopefully before they send my next one, so they can be tested before wasting everyone's time and money.

2 out of 5 stars Did NOT work for Canon Vixia HF-100   December 13, 2008
Vixia HF-100 User

If you are looking for a mini-HDMI cable to output HD video from your Canon Vixia HF-100 camcorder to your hi-def television, this is NOT the cable for you (either that, or I just got a lemon). I tried to use this cable to connect my HF-100 to my HDTV, but it did not work. Unlike other reviewers, I found the connections to be secure (no looseness that I experienced), but there was absolutely no video outputted to my television. Just a black screen, as if no video was being transmitted at all. I returned this cable, bought a different one, and it worked perfectly with the same camcorder and same TV. So I chalk up the problem to this cable, for what it's worth.

1 out of 5 stars Didnt Work With Dony HDR-SR11   December 2, 2008
Michael Davis (New York, NY United States)

It simply did not work right with the HDR-SR11 HandyCam.

I was able to get it working for 10 seconds by holding the cable "Just So" but it did not fit snugly into the miniHDMI on the camera

Maybe it was just mine.. but I order a better (read more expensive) one instead

3 out of 5 stars Works. Usually.   September 12, 2008

Product usually works. Sometimes there are white lines, but if I tighten the connection and push the wire really in, then it works.
