1 out of 5 stars STAY AWAY!!!!   August 14, 2010

I ordered one of these, was charged the same day, and it never arrived. After waiting three weeks, I finally emailed TAW Global and they said it was lost. They offered to send another one with the SAME 3 week delivery period, so I declined and asked for a refund. They refused. I had to go through Amazon's A-Z Guarantee to get my money back.

I realize that this isn't a review of the actual product, but-
1. TAW Global is also the manufacturer.
2. They are an untrustworthy company and prospective customers need to be aware that they are risking their money by ordering from TAW Global.

4 out of 5 stars A lot of money for what it is, but it works well   July 17, 2010

I bought one of these for our lake cabin and have been very impressed. It's great to be able to tranmit any audio source to the many FM radios we already have rather than having to buy a lot more hardware. It was easy to set up, and even without the extension wire for the antenna a very decent signal will reach all the way out to our garage (probably 75 feet from the transmitter). It works much better than the Rocketfish wireless tranmitters in my house that often have dropouts and static even at relatively close range.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I think it's way overpriced at $124.99. I paid a little less than that because I bought mine early. Now I wish I'd purchased two at the lower price. Given the simple contruction of the unit (verging on what I would call "cheap construction") I'm sure they are making a big profit on it. Maybe there was a lot of R&D that went into it, but I'm pretty sure the aren't paying their manufacturer much at all.

But what counts is whether it works, and I have to say it's exceeded my expectations. I will probably buy another one for home if I can find it for less than $100. I haven't used it in the car, but I actually found out about this while I was researching car FM transmitters. Just because of the added flexibility of this device I would buy one of these rather than a dedicated automobile FM transmitter.

5 out of 5 stars Ten times better than the C.Crane FM transmitter   July 5, 2010

I've already been thru two of the popular C. Crane FM transmitters, which are fair at best. And yes I successfully implemented the not-so-secret method of hacking thru the C. Crane units to increase transmitting distance. Even so, static, drop-outs and the need for constant readjusting the radio antenna was the status quo.

Well, the new Whole House FM Transmitter 2.0 completely blows the C. Crane FM transmitter away. The signal and sound is clear as a bell all over my (very large) apartment, unlike with the C. Crane unit, hacked or otherwise. The secret? A huge wire antenna included that you attach to the small antenna wire on the unit, even though the instructions say the extension antenna is "not intended to be used in the USA" thanks to new ridiculous FCC regulations. (Ha-then why include the wire at all -- not that I'm complaining. To paraphrase the late Al "Grandpa" Lewis, "#!&@ the FCC!") The Whole House 2.0 with the included extension antenna is simply the best home fm transmitter available.
