1 out of 5 stars Expected more for $300   November 21, 2008
Bob E. (Irvine, CA United States)
The left side of my QC2s stopped working after about 2 years; I only use these when I'm flying so they see light usage, about once a week. I went to the local Bose store and tried a new cable but that was not the problem. The warranty is only 1 year, and the best Bose could do was to offer to charge me $100 + tax for a replacement set. I really expected more for a $300 headset. I'd rather spend about $220 and try the new Creative Aurvana's which I heard are better then the QC2s.

1 out of 5 stars $300 for "disposable" headphones?!?   November 20, 2008

Think twice before buying these headphones!
Considering the price you will be disappointed by the quality and durability - these will fall apart even if you treat them with care!

I have been very careful with my QC2s, they have led a sheltered life in my cubicle. Like many many others, I've had the following problems:

1: The plastic pieces on both sides of the expansion/slide mechanism cracked. I did a serviceable repair using black electric tape. It looks really tacky, but the headphones are still usable.

2: The material covering the foam ear cushions is deteriorating. Black flakes on my shoulders. Black flakes on my desk, in my ears, in my coffee. The ear cushions are not replaceable. There is no fix for this. This will happen to you. My headphones are still usable for now if I'm willing to put up with black flakes. The writing is on the wall - soon the ear cushions will totally fall apart and the "disposable" headset will not be useable.

Sure, I have been happy enough with the sound quality (*I'm no audiophile*), the noise cancellation, and the comfort. But $300 was a splurge for me, and I am very disappointed that these did not last. Bose offers a $100 trade-in for a new pair of QC2s, or $150 for QC3s but there is no way I'll buy another pair.

5 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for!   November 11, 2008
M. Wang (LA)
You get what you pay for; this is a wonderful item, and it does what it says. Noise canceling, light weight, very comfortable. Try them in your nearest Apple store, and you'll notice that everything falls silent inside the(often a busy) store.

As for the price, $300 is a bit steep. I bought mine used for $150, and i'm entirely satisfied with paying that much for these headphones.

Pros: great weight, wonderful sound, noise canceling works better than anything I've ever tried. The leather feels good, and ear cups fit my ears very very well.

Cons: Pricing is a bit high, but you can't expect anything else from Bose. Also, the 5ft wire is a bit long, and I don't especially like using a AAA all the time. the battery life is about 20-30 hours, which isn't bad, but I hate changing batteries every week.

Overall, it's a great product if you're willing to cough up for it.

1 out of 5 stars Cheap Plastic and Lot of static noise   October 31, 2008

The product has some big design flaws and made with cheap plastic. One of the head cups broke on my head set and I had to exchange for another for additional 100 dollars though it was a design flaw.

I was told about this problem by many people on the plane I travel with and Bose still charged me for this.

I also get the static noise very often and I do not know what is really wrong with this product. I think you cannot have it next to the cordless phone or cell phone. But how do you make sure of this these days when everyone has a cell phone.

Please research other products and you might get a better device for your money.

5 out of 5 stars NEVER FAILS TO AMAZE ME!   October 29, 2008
J. LEZONDRA (Chicago, IL USA)
This is my 2nd pair of Bose Quiet Comfort Noise Cancelling headset. The first one I had was the 1st generation QC headset. I upgraded to this later version for its one-wire set-up and its folding design. Once you begin using it, its as though you are transported to the place where your music is playing. Its brings out the best in the music you are listening to. I also used this once on a trans-pacific flight, it reduced the plane's noise considerably where you can just plain relax. In fact, it transformed my whole flight experience from always constantly waking up to having able to sleep at a stretch. After that experience, I really cant imagine myself again on a plane without bringing my QC2. The easy fold design means it can now be stored in your bag or the case unobstrusively. Even without its case, you can store it in your laptop or bag but I would advise against storing it without its case if you really want to take good care of your QC2. After all, they are expensive and expensive equipment needs to be protected. If you are a lover of good music, this headphone would certainly reinforce that feeling. Glad to have made this purchase!
